Compress Images
There are two main ways to make images smaller, quality reduction and dimension reduction. This tool lets you do either—or both—so you can control the tradeoff between sharpness and file size.
Different file types behave differently during compression:
- JPG/JPEG: best for photos; compresses very well with adjustable quality.
- PNG: best for logos and transparency; often larger than JPEG for photos.
- WebP: modern format with excellent size-to-quality ratio (great for web).
- GIF: typically for simple animations; not ideal for high-quality photos.
How do I compress an image without losing much quality?+
Lower the quality setting gradually and compare the preview and file size until you find a good balance.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?+
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so your data stays on your device.
Is it free?+
Yes. No signup, no limits, no watermarks.
