Resize Images and Reduce File Size Without Losing Control
Resizing and compressing are two different operations that solve different problems: resizing changes the image dimensions (pixel width and height), while compression reduces how much storage the image takes up (file size in KB/MB). This tool lets you do either — or both — in one workflow.
You’ll typically resize when an image is too large for a website, upload form, or document template (for example: profile photos, product images, blog banners, or thumbnails). You’ll typically compress when an image uploads too slowly, exceeds an email limit, or causes a web page to load slowly — even if the dimensions are already correct.
Resize vs. Compress: what actually changes?
- Resizing changes the pixel grid. Example: 4000×3000 → 1200×900. This usually reduces file size automatically because there are fewer pixels to store.
- Compression changes how the image data is encoded. Example: same 1200×900 image, but saved with more/less detail depending on quality settings.
- Best practice: Resize first (reduce pixel count), then compress if you still need a smaller file.
How do I resize an image online?+
Add the image, enter the new width and height (or a percentage), and download the result.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?+
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so your data stays on your device.
Is it free?+
Yes. No signup, no limits, no watermarks.
